Matt Thibeault (TIBO)

 

Originally from North Bay and now based out of Sturgeon Falls (Ontario), Matt Thibeault has continued to push the boundaries of musical expression, receiving NOMFA awards for his debut album “Cycles” in 2015, his 2018 full-length album “I Own a Bittersweet Flashlight”, and his 2023 debut French album under artist name TIBO “Catalepsie”.

Thibeault’s newest album, “I’m Broke, How Are You?”, is his first English E.P. under his new artist name TIBO, continuing within the indie-alternative landscape.

Cycles (2015)

The modern tragedy of the life and death of the fallible Homo Sapiens.

The album won a NOMFA award in 2015 for Outstanding Vocal Performance on “The Human Flaw”.

I Own a Bittersweet Flashlight (2018)

Recorded in two parts, the album recalls the end of a relationship and the phases (Distraction and Reality) that one undergoes when trying to move on.

The album was nominated for a NOMFA award in 2018 for Best Album; Shawn Sasyniuk won an award for Best Engineer for his work on the album.

Catalepsie (2023)

TIBO strives to explore regaining his French language pride and understanding through song, addressing love, politics, and identity.

The album won a NOMFA award in 2024 for Best French Album/Meilleur album francophone.
